Thee Oh Sees - “Meat Step Lively”

Most Oh Sees songs are sort of interchangeably awesome. They kinda just vary in tempo. This is from the new record HELP, which sounds alot like their (also superb) last two records, with some minor production flourishes here and there. This track stands out for its sweet and funky flute break towards the end. 

They tore up the Bell House last night. Excellent rock and roll time. Like most bands worth seeing, all the songs are about twice as fast live. John Dwyer is a can’t stop spazmo, with his guitar strung up practically to his chin, when he cant get the strap tight enough he just holds it up higher anyway and keeps on strummastrummastrummin hard. At one point he held the guitar by its neck up in his teeth for about a minute. Thats a strong jaw. Anyway it was awesome, loosey goosey,  recommended funtime.

They’re playing tonight at the Mercury Lounge NYC, which i’d even consider, BUT I’m already going to the Queers tonight which will be even better as their songs are just awesome, and not interchangeably so.
