Klaus Nomi - “Simple Man”

This song and video make me teary with triumphant joy. 

A friend points out that the “..never never to be lonely” hook at the end of the chorus sounds eerily similar to some Weezer song or another. Something off the Green Album… Island in the Sun? I hear it but can’t quite place it.
