Fuck The Prom's Top 5 Albums of 2008 I'm Not Seeing On Any Other Year End Lists

Not necessarily my actual top 5. but you’ll see the Walkmen, Why?, Deerhunter, Katy Perry, No Age, Metallica, Weezer, the Airborne Toxic Event, and so on listed in plenty of other places. With commentary in 20 words or less: 5. Sloppy Seconds - Endless Bummer - pop punk jokers make good after 10 year absence. giddy fun. 4. Wavves - Wavves - kinda what I was hoping Nouns would sound like. 3. Meneguar - The In Hour - crusty local indie heroes switch instruments for most creative album yet. 2. Grouper - Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill - late entry. gauzy and disorienting. beauty in simplicity. Aural equivalent of flu recovery. 1. Ten Kens -Ten Kens - Arcade Fire rewrites some Nirvana songs and gets Liars to re-interpret the results. only better. Of course, whatever Jandek put out goes without saying. Big shout out to These Are Powers Taro Tarot EP too, but that’s an EP, and their awesome full length Terrific Seasons actually came out late last year. They are awesome. Also big shout out to ELO, Cheap Trick, T. Rex, and the Riverdales, who all sound better with every passing year.
