AA- “Society Stinks”
So, months ago a friend of mine was googling for some Aa (as in “big a little a”) mp3s and came across a song by this strange and little-heard early 80’s Swiss-Wave band AA (as in A A ?) called “Suicide Fever”.
It was really cool in a, “wow where did this come from and what’s it all about?” way. A deep stuttering post-punk groove with flangey picked guitar arpeggios and some Swiss creep muttering about how he really wants to die on top. Really creepy, had that compelling sense of doom hovering around it that a lot of that era’s best underground music has. So we engaged in a search, and there’s very little info about this band anywhere. They only released one 7” EP called Essential Entertainment in 1982 on a label called Sexy Robot, limited to 1000 copies. “Suicide Fever” was the only track from it that seemed to be floating around… Our curiosity only grew of course.
Long story short, I applied my most trusted record-searching resources and manged to scour up a copy about a month ago. It is a really curious little slab of weirdness. I made some amateur rips of all 4 tracks and plan to post them all here in order over the next few days. This is the first track, it’s called “Society Stinks”.
